As far as I know, there is no such thing as ‘Imposter Syndrome’; however, this term gets thrown around a lot and has been widely studied since its inception in the late 1970’s. Nonetheless, I have seen this same dialogue and negative self-belief in my clients. And, I too have experienced these phenomena!

I imagine that it is almost impossible to live in US society and not have these feelings from time to time. We live in a constant state of being bombarded by the successes of others’. Case and point – have you ever seen a close friends perfect Instagram or Facebook profile and known the truth about their less than flawless lives? EXACTLY! No person is perfect and our lives are uniquely complex.

This article gives a few examples of some common negative self-talk scenarios that counteract our ability to be our full selves. By using reframing, you can quickly turn your thoughts around. Remember that purpose (not position) is what really fuels our ability to positively navigate through this precarious terrain. Without purpose, we are merely coasting through our lives without intention.
