One of the best methods to use while exploring career options can be the Informational Interview. Informational Interviewing, in a nutshell, is just an informational conversation between you and a professional in a field in which you are curious about. This is not an interview, nor should you ask for an opportunity. If an opportunity presents itself, then so be it – but the main goal is to simply ask your interviewee specific questions about their field. Pursuing Informational Interviews will not only assist you in finding out if an industry/ organization is right for, but it also constitutes as networking as well. And, this type of activity promotes an “active” job search versus just sitting at home and applying online. Remember that most good jobs will come from people you know – so get out there and expand your network by targeting professionals in your interest areas! Link>>
