One of the biggest concerns I hear from older clients is the fear that they are too old for employment. It’s potentially one of the most rampant acts of discrimination that happen in the hiring process and it’s virtually impossible to prove. Surely, there are some ways to protect yourself, i.e. shorten your resume, leave off gradation dates, etc., but in a world where your picture will be posted on LinkedIn, it’s tough to hide the reality of age. As this article states, it is very important to convey your value and what you can contribute to the workplace. Think like a salesman: research pain-points the employer has, and suggest solutions that may impact the organization in a positive manner. If they can’t see past your age or your potential, then they are not the right company for you to work for. Remember that you are interviewing them as well!
